My Story: From Exhaustion to Empowerment

For years, I thought my demanding job was the root of all my problems. I was tired all the time, constantly stressed, and assumed it was just the toll of overwork. Stress causes headaches, right? That’s what I believed. But my body was giving me more signals. I broke out with painful skin blemishes. I craved potato chips and M&M’s like they were fuel. I had no energy, cried all the time, and when my headaches became unbearable, I would pop two Excedrin, close the curtains, and sleep. My family learned to recognize “those” headaches—I even gave them names so everyone knew when I needed to be left alone. On top of this, I knew I was moving through menopause. My periods were irregular, I was bloated daily, and I lived with constant pain. I told myself it was just another stage of life. Then came the turning point. I went in for a routine bone density test. When the results came back, my doctor called me in immediately. She looked me in the eye and said, “You’re too young to have osteoporosis. Something metabolically is going on. I am 98% sure you have Celiac disease.” Blood tests and a biopsy confirmed it. I asked, “What do I do?” and she answered with one word: diet.

No wheat. No rye. No barley. No oats. “That’s it?” I asked, stunned. She nodded. But then she warned me: avoiding these foods would be harder than I thought, because wheat is hidden in everything. And that’s when I said to myself: Game on. I had reached my limit—I could not live like this anymore. I took charge of my own health. I dove into research, educated myself about gluten-free living, and within just two weeks of making changes, something amazing happened:

-The headaches disappeared.

-The exhaustion lifted.

-The cravings lost their grip.

-I felt like me again.

My family noticed the transformation, and I began sharing what I learned with them. Together, we started cooking healthier meals. I taught them how processed foods can lead to chronic illness, and we embraced a lifestyle that not only supported my Celiac diagnosis but improves all of our health.

What I discovered was bigger than my own story:

-I wasn’t “just stressed.” My body had been screaming for help.

-Food is powerful—both as a destroyer and a healer.

-Living with Celiac doesn’t mean being limited. It means being aware, educated, and empowered.

Today, I live a normal, vibrant life with Celiac disease. I have energy, I’m free from constant pain, and I know how to fuel my body instead of hurting it. My dream was simple—to feel well again. And now, I get to live it every single day.

If you are struggling with exhaustion, pain, or unexplained symptoms—don’t ignore them. Don’t just accept that “this is how life is.” Be your own advocate. Ask questions. Learn. Educate yourself. And most importantly, don’t give up until you find the root cause.

Because healing begins the moment you decide: Game on.
